The Project

Creation of four poems to support the launch of the colour palette of The Earth Agency, a strategic and creative agency supporting purpose-led, sustainable brands with their branding, design and communication needs.

Three of the poems brought to life the agency’s three brand colours: Kelp Forest Green representing Sustainability and the “water” element, Almond Blossom Shell representing Purpose and the “air” element, and Giant Sequoia Wood representing Creativity and the “fire” element.

The fourth poem “No Bounds” features the fourth element “earth” completing the picture and bringing to life the passion of the agency for both the planet and art as key drivers of value creation.

The collaboration between Anthony and The Earth Agency included two features on the agency’s blog: Anthony’s Interview & Colour into poems project, a feature in the agency’s newsletter and on social media, the creation of bookmarks and a study for garments.

Colours into Poems

KELP FOREST GREEN:

“TEACHER”

In a forest swaying

But not in a breeze

Neither trees as we know them

Sea-weeds (it’s mean to call them)

Better trees of the sea

The kelp leaves…' unfold

(who is that within enfolded

Hiding, some 'Pet's Teacher'?)

Feeder of diverse species, and concealer

Waterworld of dramatic wonder

Productive, life prolific

Aqua green through azure seen

Sunken forest in the tide

Anchored on the floor of the sea

Going with the ebb one way

Flowing back the other

Animated by the waves

Living rope reaches for the surface

But cannot surpass, as sea dweller

Must remain below the surface

That's as high as it can grow

Ceiling for life below

Surface for life above

Though it rises and falls with the moon

The boundary between Air

and Water

ALMOND BLOSSOM SHELL:

“ALMOND EVOCATEUR”

Awake to the scent

The green Almond tree

Flowers white to pale pink, springing

Calling in, creating

The next seed bearers

Feeding the dream

The purpose to be seen

Found, inside the flower

The promise of the fruit

Inside, the promised seed

Hope manifesting, encased

From the land to the hand

Holding the seed of your future

Contemplate, go thinkwalking

Sensory melding, transforming

A palette for the palate, mixing

Breathe in the Almond colour

See its perfume in the Air

Almond Evocateur

Self-fulfilling, awakening

In this sweet Synesthesia

GIANT SEQUOIA WOOD:

“TOWERING”

Towering

A tree above trees

Living hi-rise - no eyes

Nature's sky-scraper

Still stands watch

Silent sentinel

Senses through the breeze

Smoke on the horizon, fire

Nemesis of trees

Towering above the inferno

On the forest floor

Fire-guard bark black

Red-Brown inside intact

Redwood called brown

Force of destruction

Harnessed for good wood

That is, good for the tree

Most massive tree on earth

Tallest and largest living thing

Soaring while firmly rooted in the ground

In a sense, it is earth - made alive

Ascending from inanimate minerals

Up into life - in the sky

The elemental wisdom of the earth

Lifted up and spread out high

Branching out, beaconing

Thousands of years of adapting

How many seasons

Long-lived landmark

Guiding for centuries

More to come

Stand up - strong

Stand tall - wise

Stand out - creative

Sequoia, Force of Nature

Fire-Tamer, where others burn

Understanding long living

Upstanding sign of the above

Pointing into the sky

Towering

“No Bounds”

Mother

Everything, All

All life

Water, Air, Fire

Earth-Mother of all elements

She cooked them all by heart

For four billion years and a bit more

From mainly four

OMg SiFe

Then the greatest feat of the Mother of All

Life created from these ingredients

A wonder and a secret

Our science is yet to unravel

Life that would proliferate

And come to know its maker

Through our agency, self-realised

The love of a mother

Mother's other greatest creation

Moulded in her like

Knows no bounds

Boundless it should be returned

Except for one, the bond of respect

From the earth-bound

Stay within that bound, wise

Born of fire herself

At her core the passion burns

Hot enough to make rock flow, molten

Source of energy best left untapped

She keeps it under a mantle

Encrusted it with rock

Let the surface cool, friendly

Ready for the spark

The ignition of life

Love may overrule

But it stands on her elemental skin

The solid ground of three-way respect

Every way possible in fact

In recognition of her acts

For the equivalent value

Is what is returned

As the earth turns

Through time...

Mother of all mothers

The common bond between

Giver of the Life of Us on Earth

The 'Common Ground'

By any name, in any tongue

For all time

Mother Earth
